Casting Methods
The end use of the alloy and the mechanical properties required of it are heavily influenced by the casting method used, this is especially true of the yield and tensile strengths of the alloy. .
We have the facilities to:
- Produce Centrifugal castings for large OD flanges, bushes and sheaths with fine grain structures
- Cast Continuous lengths with a wide range of cross sections and profiles -
Although many claims are made concerning the superior properties obtainable from centrifugal castings, the process alone is not a guarantee of a superior product. In cases where equipment and design permit the full utilization of deep chill, directional solidification from the mold face inward, and high feeding pressure, castings are consistent of very high quality. When these principles are compromised, a wide range of properties can be expected. As a result, good foundry practice in all methods of casting metal is an essential factor in producing high-quality castings.
On site CNC machining requires we keep a lot of hollow bar stock across multiple alloys
We now are able to cater to the needs of those customers, who use our hollow bar products in the manufacture of bushes and bushings. (A Bush or Bushing is a fixed or removable cylindrical tube or sleeve that provides an interface between two parts. It is used to constrain, guide, or reduce friction and is effectively one classification of the overall category of bearings and sometimes are referred to as Sleeve Bearings or Plain Bearings.)
These machined bushes must meet the functional Tribological demands of the engineeering application in which they are to be used. (Tribology is defined as the science and technology of interacting surfaces in relative motion. It includes the study and application of the principles of friction, lubrication and wear).
We have precison machining capabilities that allow us to meet tolerances reliably in mass produced components, where we have 4 sigma quality rates.
Our mature CNC Milling & Turning capabilities allow us to work to tolerances of 5-10 microns.
